Little Teeth of Texas

,

Whitney had her first dentist appointment today! So cute! A friend recommended a pediatric dentist that is called Little Teeth of Texas and they are SERIOUS about their theme. It is the cutest place! They have Texas pillows and cowboy boot business card holders. Their play area has cactus painted on the walls and there are ponies, saddles, and even a cowboy jack in the box for the kids to play with. They didn't miss a single thing when decorating. I had to take a picture of the cowboy clock where the tooth brush sways with the second and brushes the cowboys teeth! Too funny! Whit did awesome and was very please with her new toothbrush, bracelet, princess sticker, and coloring book. Mal was very jealous and can't wait until her appointment in a few weeks! LOVE IT!

Rainy Afternoon/Swine Flu

Howdy from Texas on this rainy afternoon! Have any of you seen the news coverage on Schertz, TX? It is just about 3 miles up the road from us. The girls doctor is in Schertz, along with our grocery store and library. Well, it has been hit with the Swine Flu and they have closed, the schools, parks, and libraries. I was supposed to take Mal for a re-check on her ear today and I canceled. I figured that if she is healthy it would be a better plan to keep her away from the doctors office! So, we are staying pretty close to home. We spent a lot of time today doing crafts! :) The girls FAVORITE...other than playing outside :) We had a great time and made a big mess! Yeah! We love you all!

Portraits

Yesterday the girls and I went to pick up the portraits we had taken for their birthdays and Easter...We had Whitney's 2nd birthday pictures taken in February and then we went back and did Mal's 4th birthday pictures and some shots of the girls in their Easter outfits in March. Here are my favorites :-) Enjoy!

Fiesta

"Fiesta" in San Antonio is a BIG deal! Scott and I had no idea what it was but after hearing so much about it and seeing all the "wreaths" on the door and then discovering even the schools close for it and Mal's preschool even had a school wide "Fiesta" celebration we thought we would find out what it is all about :-) One thing we knew for sure is that everyone parties for two weeks :-) Here are the 2 main things I found:

Fiesta really is one of America's truly great festivals. It began as a way to honor the memory of the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. That commemoration still takes place. But over the past century and more, Fiesta has grown into a celebration of San Antonio's rich and diverse cultures. 2009 marks Fiesta's 118th anniversary.

  • 11 days
  • 107 events
  • 100 local nonprofit member organizations
  • Up to 3.5 million attending
  • $284 million economic impact
  • A real Texas-sized festival!
Fiesta never ends because its 100 local nonprofit groups work in their communities year round, helping their neighbors. And the military organizations that take part in Fiesta are, of course, defending our country 365 days a year.

Pretty cool....huh?

I had a great time with Mallory today at the Coker Day School Fiesta :) We are going to go see what else we can find this weekend :) When we are finally back home in KC you will drive by my house in April and see a HUGE brightly colored wreath on my door and know we are celebrating Fiesta :) Maybe I will start throwing a "Fiesta" every April so y'all can get into the spirit with us :)
LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!

Day at the Zoo

The girls brushing the goat!

The girls feeding the fish!

The girls checking out some monkeys!

On the train ride (my attempt at getting a picture of Whit and I)

The girls waiting for the Train!

We woke up this morning to a beautiful sunny day and a free schedule! :) We decided to spend the day out and about outside! :) We started with lunch at a playplace and then off to the zoo. The girls wanted to start our visit to the zoo with a train ride. They were really excited waiting for the train and Mal LOVED the train ride but Whit...not so much...she clung to me and kept crying, "No choo choo train, I am so scaried" It was really cute. Then we spend the rest of the day looking at all the animals, playing in the kids discovery center and brushing/feeding the goats at the petting zoo and feeding the fish. We had a great time! Both the girls were asleep on the ride home and are both still resting now. Sending big Texas hugs! Love you guys!

Always a Princess

Today the girls decided to play in the backyard with their dress up high heels on! So Cute! Whit kept saying..."I am a princess...outside....Bye Bye Momma!" She had on her hot pink high heels and was carrying her Dora Purse! Mal had her purple heels on and was painting both her and her "rock collection" with princess lipstick. I love how they play together! It is just the sweetest thing to watch! They took out their play cart and stroller with the purses and high heels on to "shop" for me in the yard. The brought me lots of leaves off the trees and grass and a few dandelions :) I am the luckiest mom EVER!!! Praise be to God for our girls! Love you guys!

Whitney's Haircut

Well it finally happened! Our first hair cut experience...Amy warned me this would happen....I have tried to be so good about keep all the scissors put out of the girls reach...but last week Mal found some scissors and decided to give Whitney a "new hair do" at first I couldn't even figure out what had happened...I was in the shower and they were playing quietly with dolls and then next thing I know I come out to a very quiet empty room and a big lock of blonde hair on the floor! I kept saying, "Girls who's hair is this?" and of course no one would tell....Mallory finally confessed she cut Whitney's hair but I couldn't figure out where it came from on Whit's head until I washed it and blew it dry...then I found a nice bald spot right behind her bangs. It is really short so at this point it just looks like she has a bald patch....I was actually pretty happy it wasn't worse! :) I will always remember my sister Steph cutting off all her bangs at the roots when she was about the same age Mal is...."Look mom, I have a spike" Classic! LOVE YOU GUYS!

Happy Easter!

Praise God for this glorious Easter day! We had storms last night...which is a blessing because we are already in stage 1 water restrictions....and now the sun is shining and it is 85 degrees out! What wonderful weather to celebrate Easter! We were so thankful to be invited to some friends house for Easter brunch...the Easter bunny left a note for the kids that the parents had to hide the eggs because the backyard was too muddy....while the dads were busy hiding eggs the kids made bunny masks with the moms and then we made Resurrection Rolls....after wards we had the egg hunt and then enjoyed a lovely brunch. It was such a fun time and we are just so thankful for our dear friends the Sharps. Happy Easter! He has Risen indeed!
